Anyone else feel like this year is flying by? Don’t mean to remind you but it’s November already, which means the most wonderful time of the year is fast approaching. But before you get caught up in all the festivities, there’s plenty happening in our favourite wine regions. Get your Italian food and wine fix at the King Valley’s La Dolce Vita Festival; taste your way through Canberra’s top wines at Yazz Wine Fest or take a trip to Geelong for their annual Toast to the Coast. You can also catch events on the Mornington Peninsula, in Margaret River, Swan Valley and Sydney Harbour.
New South Wales
Sydney, 1-3 November
Pop on your best tropical holiday outfit and set sail for the getaway of your wildest wine dreams. Wine Island features some top Australian and international wine brands, including Grant Burge, Contentious Character, Cape Mentelle and Petaluma, just to name a few. If you’re looking for a sneaky tipple, you’ll also find Manly Spirits, Brix Distillery, Jetty Road Brewery plus more. Check out the website for all ticketing options, including the new Hamptons Experience for those truly looking to be treated like a royal.
Canberra District, 9 November
Spend your Saturday arvo drinking the best wine, beer and spirits from the Canberra District at Yazz Wine Fest. Presented by regional hotspot Yazzbar, the event features 16 local wineries all pouring their favourite wines, with live music and local food trucks. Tickets come with a souvenir glass and a bottle carry bag, meaning there’s no excuse not to stock up the cellar in preparation for the Christmas table.
Geelong, 2-3 November
Geelong’s biggest wine festival is back, celebrating the best of the region’s food and wine scene. This year’s Toast to the Coast features a new set-up, with Saturday dedicated to touring around the region’s cellar doors while Sunday brings those wineries together to The Pier for a wine extravaganza. If you’re looking to continue the celebrations, Sailors Rest will be hosting free nibbles and local music on the Sunday night.
King Valley, 16-17 November
Escape to Australia’s little slice of Italy for the King Valley’s La Dolce Vita Festival. Watch the valley come alive for one of the largest events of the year, celebrating the region’s rich Italian heritage through wine, food and music. There are heaps of highlights over the weekend, including prosecco and sparkling cocktails, Pizzini’s Ms Gnocca gnocci rolling competition or Dal Zotto’s Prosecco Fishing, which is bound to be a laugh and perfect for the whole family.
Mornington Peninsula, 16-17 November
Book a trip to Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula for a wine tour like no other. Make your way around the region’s best wineries, breweries and eateries all with the energy-filled vibes of a festival – the perfect day out with friends. Venues will be holding plenty of live music performances, tastings and of course serving more food than you could possibly imagine. Tickets include entry to the wineries, tastings and – most importantly – access to the event buses, so you can hop safely between the vineyards.
Perth, Margaret River and Swan Valley, 8-17 November
Gourmet Escape is your chance to discover (if you haven’t already) the incredible food and wine from Western Australia and its premium wine regions. During the ten-day event, you can catch long lunches, wine-matched dinners, masterclasses and star-studded cooking demonstrations showcasing the state’s wine and culinary talents. Gourmet Escape kicks off in the Swan Valley (8-10 November), before making its way to Perth (11-14 November) and finishing off in the Margaret River (15-17 November).
