Located approximately 380 kilometres from Sydney, the Hilltops wine region centres itself around the charming town of Young. Best visited during the wonderful cherry season, the region is often overlooked for its wine experiences and its small collection of delightful cellar doors. Increasing accolades for the wines of the region have forced the hand of many of Hilltops’ laid-back wineries, and as visitor numbers are seemingly on the rise there’s been an elevation in cellar door offerings. Chalkers Crossing cellar door is one of those authentic, delightful wine experiences that makes visitors feel closely connected to the winemaking. It’s a simple space, uncluttered and focused on increasingly excellent regional staples. The cosy room draws in visitors with its personable service, appropriately sophisticated glassware and views over the landscape. Accommodating staff showcase Chalkers Crossing’s entire current release range, and though the cellar door operates Monday to Friday, appointments can be made for those seeking a tasting experience outside of visiting hours.
